These are carboxylic acids containing exactly three carboxyl groups. 1-[(5,5,8a-trimethyl-2-methylidene-hexahydro-1h-naphthalen-1-yl)methoxy]propane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid is found in Cryptoporus volvatus and Lentinus substrictus. 1-[(5,5,8A-trimethyl-2-methylidene-decahydronaphthalen-1-yl)methoxy]propane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
