Common Namepanaxytriol
DescriptionPanaxytriol, also known as falcarintriol, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as long-chain fatty alcohols. These are fatty alcohols that have an aliphatic tail of 13 to 21 carbon atoms. Thus, panaxytriol is considered to be a fatty alcohol lipid molecule. Panaxytriol is a fatty alcohol found in ginseng. Panaxytriol is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, Panaxytriol has been detected, but not quantified in, tea. panaxytriol is found in Panax ginseng, Panax japonicus, Panax pseudoginseng and Panax quinquefolius. This could make panaxytriol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
