These are terphenyls with a structure containing the 1,3-diphenylbenzene skeleton. trifucol is found in Analipus japonicus and Himanthalia elongata. 3-(2,4,6-Trihydroxyphenyl)-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2,2',4,4',6,6'-hexol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
