These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. 6-{5,5a,7,9-tetrahydroxy-9a,11a-dimethyl-tetradecahydrocyclopenta[a]phenanthren-1-yl}-2,3-dimethylheptan-2-yl acetate is found in Sarcophyton elegans and Sarcophyton glaucum. 2,3-Dimethyl-6-{3,5,7,8-tetrahydroxy-2,15-dimethyltetracyclo[8.7.0.0²,⁷.0¹¹,¹⁵]Heptadecan-14-yl}heptan-2-yl acetate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
