| Description | SN-38 carboxylic acid, also known as sn-38 carboxylate form or sn-38C, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as camptothecins. These are heterocyclic compounds comprising a planar pentacyclic ring structure, that includes a pyrrolo[3,4-beta]-quinoline moiety (rings A, B and C), conjugated pyridone moiety (ring D) and one chiral center at position 20 within the alpha-hydroxy lactone ring with (S) configuration (the E-ring). SN-38 carboxylic acid is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. (2s)-2-[12-ethyl-2-hydroxy-8-(hydroxymethyl)-9-oxo-11h-indolizino[1,2-b]quinolin-7-yl]-2-hydroxybutanoic acid is found in Apis cerana. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on SN-38 carboxylic acid. |
