Naphthofurans are compounds containing a furan ring fused to a naphthalene moiety. Furan is a 5 membered- ring aromatic ring with four carbon and one oxygen atoms. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon made up of two fused benzene rings. 3-[1-(furan-3-yl)-3-oxo-1h,6h,7h,8h,9h-naphtho[1,2-c]furan-8-yl]-5h-furan-2-one is found in Salvia dugesii. 3-[1-(Furan-3-yl)-3-oxo-1H,3H,6H,7H,8H,9H-naphtho[1,2-c]furan-8-yl]-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
