Natural Product Identification
Common Namelotisoflavan
DescriptionLotisoflavan belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated isoflavonoids. These are isoflavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the isoflavonoid backbone. Isoflavonoids are natural products derived from 3-phenylchromen-4-one. Thus, lotisoflavan is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Lotisoflavan is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. lotisoflavan is found in Lotus angustissimus. A hydroxyisoflavan that is isoflavan substituted by hydroxy groups at positions 2' and 4' and methoxy groups at positions 5 and 7 respectively.
