| Description | 6-Hydroxymanzamine A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as harmala alkaloids. Harmala alkaloids are compounds with a structure based on harmaline, harmine, harmalol, harman or a derivative of those parents. These parents are beta-carbolines, consisting of a pyrimidine fused to the pyrrole moiety of an indole to form a pyrido[3,4-b]indole. 6-Hydroxymanzamine A is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 6-hydroxymanzamine a was first documented in 1994 (PMID: 7714542). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on 6-hydroxymanzamine A (PMID: 32494136) (PMID: 12828469). |
