| Description | Cyclolaudenyl palmitate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cycloartanols and derivatives. These are steroids containing a cycloartanol moiety. Cyclolaudenyl palmitate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, cyclolaudenyl palmitate has been detected, but not quantified in, cereals and cereal products and fats and oils. 15-(5,6-dimethylhept-6-en-2-yl)-7,7,12,16-tetramethylpentacyclo[9.7.0.0¹,³.0³,⁸.0¹²,¹⁶]octadecan-6-yl hexadecanoate is found in Goniophlebium mengtzeense. This could make cyclolaudenyl palmitate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
