These are acetals derived from ketones by replacement of the oxo group by two hydrocarbyloxy groups R2C(OR)2 ( R not Hydrogen ). This term, once abandoned, has been reinstated as a subclass of acetals. 5-[(6-{[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-4-oxochromen-3-yl]oxy}-3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl)methoxy]-3-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-oxopentanoic acid is found in Oxytropis racemosa. 5-[(6-{[2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl]oxy}-3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl)methoxy]-3-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-oxopentanoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
