Common Named-homophenylalanine
DescriptionL-homophenylalanine, also known as L-HPA, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as l-alpha-amino acids. These are alpha amino acids which have the L-configuration of the alpha-carbon atom. L-homophenylalanine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). d-homophenylalanine is found in Daphnia pulex. d-homophenylalanine was first documented in 2013 (PMID: 23354699). A non-proteinogenic L-alpha-amino acid that is an analogue of L-phenylalanine having a 2-phenylethyl rather than a benzyl side-chain (PMID: 23893309) (PMID: 24053171) (PMID: 24993356).
