Natural Product Identification
Common Name7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}chromen-4-one
DescriptionGenistein 5-o-glucoside belongs to the class of organic compounds known as isoflavonoid o-glycosides. These are o-glycosylated derivatives of isoflavonoids, which are natural products derived from 3-phenylchromen-4-one. Thus, genistein 5-O-glucoside is considered to be a flavonoid. 7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}chromen-4-one is found in Chaenomeles sinensis and Prunus cerasus. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Genistein 5-o-glucoside.
