Description2-{3-[1-(Acetyloxy)ethyl]-5-(methoxycarbonyl)-2-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl}acetic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as terpene glycosides. These are prenol lipids containing a carbohydrate moiety glycosidically bound to a terpene backbone. {3-[1-(acetyloxy)ethyl]-5-(methoxycarbonyl)-2-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-3,4-dihydro-2h-pyran-4-yl}acetic acid is found in Calycophyllum spruceanum and Chione venosa. 2-{3-[1-(Acetyloxy)ethyl]-5-(methoxycarbonyl)-2-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl}acetic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
