These are diterpenoids with a structure based on the clerodane or the colensane skeleton. Clerodanes arise from labdanes by two methyl migrations. 5-hydroxy-1,2-dimethyl-4-(2-methyl-16-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}hexadecanoyl)-2h-pyrrol-3-one is found in Epicoccum nigrum. 5-Hydroxy-1,2-dimethyl-4-(2-methyl-16-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}hexadecanoyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
