DescriptionBetaclamycin A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as anthracyclines. These are polyketides containing a tetracenequinone ring structure with a sugar attached by glycosidic linkage. (7r,8r)-10-{[(2r,4s,6s)-4-(dimethylamino)-5-{[(2s,4s,5s,6s)-4-hydroxy-6-methyl-5-{[(2r,6s)-6-methyl-5-oxooxan-2-yl]oxy}oxan-2-yl]oxy}-6-methyloxan-2-yl]oxy}-8-ethyl-1,6,7,8,11-pentahydroxy-9,10-dihydro-7h-tetracene-5,12-dione is found in Streptomyces galilaeus. (7r,8r)-10-{[(2r,4s,6s)-4-(dimethylamino)-5-{[(2s,4s,5s,6s)-4-hydroxy-6-methyl-5-{[(2r,6s)-6-methyl-5-oxooxan-2-yl]oxy}oxan-2-yl]oxy}-6-methyloxan-2-yl]oxy}-8-ethyl-1,6,7,8,11-pentahydroxy-9,10-dihydro-7h-tetracene-5,12-dione was first documented in 1984 (PMID: 6480506). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Betaclamycin A (PMID: 3384751).
