| Description | Picrasinol D belongs to the class of organic compounds known as quassinoids. These are a group of compounds chemically degraded from triterpenes. According to their basic skeleton, quassinoids are categorized into five distinct groups, C-18, C-19, C-20, C-22 and C-25 types. The C-20 quassinoids can be further classified into two types, tetracyclic and the pentacyclic. The tetracyclic variety does not have oxygenation at C-20, while the pentacyclic quassinoids possess additional oxygenation at C-20 that allows for the formation of an additional ring. (1s,2s,6r,7s,8r,12r,14s,15s,19s,20r)-7,10-dihydroxy-17-methoxy-7,15,19,20-tetramethyl-3,5,11-trioxapentacyclo[10.7.1.0²,⁶.0⁸,²⁰.0¹⁴,¹⁹]icos-16-en-18-one is found in Picrasma quassioides. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Picrasinol D. |
