Description(5S,6S)-5-hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxy-6-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as kavalactones. These are lactones, which is structurally characterized by a benzene ring and a pyranone moiety, linked to each other to form a 4-methoxy-6-(2-phenylethyl)-2H-pyran-2-one skeleton. (5s,6s)-5-hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxy-6-[(1e)-2-phenylethenyl]-5h-pyran-2-one is found in Piper sanctum. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (5S,6S)-5-hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxy-6-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one.
