Description6-Hydroxy-beta-carboline-1-carboxylic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as harmala alkaloids. Harmala alkaloids are compounds with a structure based on harmaline, harmine, harmalol, harman or a derivative of those parents. These parents are beta-carbolines, consisting of a pyrimidine fused to the pyrrole moiety of an indole to form a pyrido[3,4-b]indole. 6-hydroxy-9h-pyrido[3,4-b]indole-1-carboxylic acid is found in Picrasma quassioides. 6-hydroxy-9h-pyrido[3,4-b]indole-1-carboxylic acid was first documented in 2012 (PMID: 22888096). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 6-Hydroxy-beta-carboline-1-carboxylic acid (PMID: 29642544).
