Description4,8-Dihydroxy-N-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]quinoline-2-carboximidic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 8-hydroxyquinolines. 8-Hydroxyquinolines are compounds containing a quinoline moiety, which carries a hydroxy group at the 8-position. Quinoline consists of a benzene ring fused to a pyrimidine ring to form benzo[b]azabenzene. 4,8-dihydroxy-n-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]quinoline-2-carboximidic acid is found in Botrylloides perspicuus. 4,8-Dihydroxy-N-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]quinoline-2-carboximidic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
