DescriptionStellasterol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ergosterols and derivatives. These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. Thus, stellasterol is considered to be a sterol. (1r,3ar,5as,7s,9as,9br,11ar)-1-[(2r,3e,5s)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-9a,11a-dimethyl-1h,2h,3h,3ah,5h,5ah,6h,7h,8h,9h,9bh,10h,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-7-ol is found in Axinella cannabina and Cucumis sativus. (1r,3ar,5as,7s,9as,9br,11ar)-1-[(2r,3e,5s)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-9a,11a-dimethyl-1h,2h,3h,3ah,5h,5ah,6h,7h,8h,9h,9bh,10h,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-7-ol was first documented in 2015 (PMID: 26233815). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on Stellasterol (PMID: 35651492) (PMID: 34493157) (PMID: 32856730) (PMID: 28414246).
