Description2-{[2-Hydroxy-2-(5-hydroxy-3-methylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl)-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexyl]oxy}-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as terpene glycosides. These are prenol lipids containing a carbohydrate moiety glycosidically bound to a terpene backbone. 2-{[2-hydroxy-2-(5-hydroxy-3-methylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl)-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexyl]oxy}-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is found in Aeginetia indica. 2-{[2-Hydroxy-2-(5-hydroxy-3-methylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl)-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexyl]oxy}-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
