| Common Name | proviolacein |
|---|
| Description | Proviolacein belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroxyindoles. These are organic compounds containing an indole moiety that carries a hydroxyl group. Proviolacein is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). proviolacein is found in Chromobacterium violaceum. proviolacein was first documented in 2006 (PMID: 17176066). A hydroxyindole that is 2H-pyrrol-2-one which is substituted at positions 3 and 5 by 1H-indol-3-yl and 5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl groups, respectively (PMID: 25664787). |
