They are nitrogen analogues (the a nitrogen atom replacing the o atom of the cyclic carboxylic acid group ) of the naturally occurring macrolides. 1-[8-(Hepta-1,4-dien-1-yl)-6-hydroxy-1,5,9-triazacyclotridec-5-en-1-yl]ethan-1-one is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). |
