DescriptionSedoheptulose 7-phosphate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as monosaccharide phosphates. These are monosaccharides comprising a phosphated group linked to the carbohydrate unit. Sedoheptulose 7-phosphate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Sedoheptulose 7-phosphate exists in both E. Coli (prokaryote) and yeast (eukaryote). sedoheptulose-7-phosphate is found in Mycoplasma bovis, Populus tremula and Trypanosoma brucei. In humans, sedoheptulose 7-phosphate is involved in pentose phosphate pathway.
