| Description | N,O-dimethyltyramine, also known as preparation 4880 or agent 48-80, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phenethylamines. Phenethylamines are compounds containing a phenethylamine moiety, which consists of a phenyl group substituted at the second position by an ethan-1-amine. N,O-dimethyltyramine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). [2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl](methyl)amine is found in Aloe turkanensis and Eriogonum brevicaule. A secondary amino compound that is tyramine in which the hydrogen of the phenolic hydroxy group has been replaced by a methyl group. |
