DescriptionAuramycin D belongs to the class of organic compounds known as anthracyclines. These are polyketides containing a tetracenequinone ring structure with a sugar attached by glycosidic linkage. methyl 4-{[4-(dimethylamino)-5-hydroxy-6-methyloxan-2-yl]oxy}-2,5,7-trihydroxy-2-methyl-6,11-dioxo-3,4-dihydro-1h-tetracene-1-carboxylate is found in Streptomyces galilaeus. Auramycin D is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
