These are monosaccharides in which the carbohydrate moiety contains five carbon atoms. 4-hydroxy-1-[4-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]-5-methyl-6h-1,3,5-triazin-2-one is found in Streptomyces platensis. 4-Hydroxy-1-[4-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]-5-methyl-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazin-2-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
