Scalarane is a tetracyclic compound, which is similar the homoandrostane with five methyl groups at the 4-, 4-, 8-, 17-, 17a-positions. 3-acetyl-8-ethyl-2-hydroxy-5b,8,11a-trimethyl-1h,2h,2ah,5h,5ah,6h,7h,7ah,9h,10h,11h,11bh,12h,13h-cyclobuta[i]chrysen-13-yl acetate is found in Phyllospongia papyracea. 5-Acetyl-17-ethyl-7-hydroxy-1,13,17-trimethylpentacyclo[10.8.0.0²,⁹.0⁶,⁹.0¹³,¹⁸]Icos-4-en-10-yl acetate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
