DescriptionMethyl 3-[2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]propanoate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 2-arylbenzofuran flavonoids. These are phenylpropanoids containing the 2-phenylbenzofuran moiety. methyl 3-[2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]propanoate is found in Selaginella moellendorffii. Methyl 3-[2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]propanoate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
