DescriptionPhenylethyl primeveroside, also known as paxgp, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as o-glycosyl compounds. These are glycoside in which a sugar group is bonded through one carbon to another group via a O-glycosidic bond. Phenylethyl primeveroside is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, Phenylethyl primeveroside has been detected, but not quantified in, herbs and spices and tea. 2-(2-phenylethoxy)-6-{[(3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl)oxy]methyl}oxane-3,4,5-triol is found in Alangium chinense, Alangium platanifolium, Camellia sinensis, Chrysanthemum zawadskii, Helichrysum arenarium, Jasminum sambac, Panax ginseng, Rhodiola crenulata, Rhodiola rosea, Rhodiola sacra, Salacia chinensis and Stachys byzantina. This could make phenylethyl primeveroside a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
