Description2-{4-[(Ethoxycarbonyl)amino]phenyl}-2-[(1-hydroxyethylidene)amino]acetic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-acyl-alpha amino acids. N-acyl-alpha amino acids are compounds containing an alpha amino acid which bears an acyl group at its terminal nitrogen atom. {4-[(ethoxycarbonyl)amino]phenyl}[(1-hydroxyethylidene)amino]acetic acid is found in Calotropis gigantea. 2-{4-[(Ethoxycarbonyl)amino]phenyl}-2-[(1-hydroxyethylidene)amino]acetic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
