| Description | (22E)-24-acetyl-28-hydroxy-10,16-dimethyl-2,5,13,18,25-pentaoxaspiro[hexacyclo[22.3.1.1¹⁴,¹⁷.0¹,³.0⁷,¹².0⁷,¹⁶]Nonacosane-15,2'-oxirane]-10,20,22-triene-4,19-dione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as trichothecenes. These are sesquiterpene mycotoxins structurally characterized by the presence of an epoxide ring and a benzopyran derivative with a variant number of hydroxyl, acetyl, or other substituents. The most important structural features causing the biological activities of trichothecenes are the 12,13-epoxy ring, the presence of hydroxyl or acetyl groups at appropriate positions on the trichothecene nucleus and the structure and position of the side-chain (22E)-24-acetyl-28-hydroxy-10,16-dimethyl-2,5,13,18,25-pentaoxaspiro[hexacyclo[22.3.1.1¹⁴,¹⁷.0¹,³.0⁷,¹².0⁷,¹⁶]Nonacosane-15,2'-oxirane]-10,20,22-triene-4,19-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
