| Description | Roridin D belongs to the class of organic compounds known as trichothecenes. These are sesquiterpene mycotoxins structurally characterized by the presence of an epoxide ring and a benzopyran derivative with a variant number of hydroxyl, acetyl, or other substituents. The most important structural features causing the biological activities of trichothecenes are the 12,13-epoxy ring, the presence of hydroxyl or acetyl groups at appropriate positions on the trichothecene nucleus and the structure and position of the side-chain. (19'e,21'e)-18'-(1-hydroxyethyl)-5',14',26'-trimethyl-2',10',13',17',24'-pentaoxaspiro[oxirane-2,27'-pentacyclo[23.2.1.0³,⁸.0⁸,²⁶.0¹²,¹⁴]octacosane]-4',19',21'-triene-11',23'-dione is found in Albifimbria verrucaria, Baccharis artemisioides, Baccharis coridifolia and Baccharis megapotamica. (19'e,21'e)-18'-(1-hydroxyethyl)-5',14',26'-trimethyl-2',10',13',17',24'-pentaoxaspiro[oxirane-2,27'-pentacyclo[23.2.1.0³,⁸.0⁸,²⁶.0¹²,¹⁴]octacosane]-4',19',21'-triene-11',23'-dione was first documented in 2018 (PMID: 30227371). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Roridin D. |
