These are flavanones that features a C5-isoprenoid substituent at the 6-position. Thus, 6-c-prenyl-8-c-methylpinocembrin is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-6-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Mallotus philippensis. 6-C-prenyl-8-c-methylpinocembrin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. |
