| Description | Icterogenin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triterpenoids. These are terpene molecules containing six isoprene units. (4r,4as,6as,6br,8ar,9s,12ar,12br,14br)-9-(hydroxymethyl)-2,2,6a,6b,9,12a-hexamethyl-4-{[(2z)-2-methylbut-2-enoyl]oxy}-10-oxo-3,4,5,6,7,8,8a,11,12,12b,13,14b-dodecahydro-1h-picene-4a-carboxylic acid is found in Lantana camara and Varronia multispicata. (4r,4as,6as,6br,8ar,9s,12ar,12br,14br)-9-(hydroxymethyl)-2,2,6a,6b,9,12a-hexamethyl-4-{[(2z)-2-methylbut-2-enoyl]oxy}-10-oxo-3,4,5,6,7,8,8a,11,12,12b,13,14b-dodecahydro-1h-picene-4a-carboxylic acid was first documented in 2019 (PMID: 30426385). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Icterogenin. |
