Gamma butyrolactones are compounds containing a gamma butyrolactone moiety, which consists of an aliphatic five-member ring with four carbon atoms, one oxygen atom, and bears a ketone group on the carbon adjacent to the oxygen atom. 1,5-dimethyl-8-(2-{6-methylidene-2-oxobicyclo[3.2.1]octan-1-yl}ethyl)-6-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-7-one is found in Ageratum fastigiatum, Ichthyothere terminalis and Sphagneticola trilobata. 1,5-Dimethyl-8-(2-{6-methylidene-2-oxobicyclo[3.2.1]Octan-1-yl}ethyl)-6-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]Octan-7-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
