Common Name7-(furan-3-yl)-10-hydroxy-1,8,12,17,17-pentamethyl-5,15-dioxo-3,6,16-trioxapentacyclo[9.9.0.0²,⁴.0²,⁸.0¹²,¹⁸]icos-13-en-20-yl acetate
Description7-(Furan-3-yl)-10-hydroxy-1,8,12,17,17-pentamethyl-5,15-dioxo-3,6,16-trioxapentacyclo[9.9.0.0²,⁴.0²,⁸.0¹²,¹⁸]Icos-13-en-20-yl acetate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as limonoids. These are highly oxygenated, modified terpenoids with a prototypical structure either containing or derived from a precursor with a 4,4,8-trimethyl-17-furanylsteroid skeleton. All naturally occurring citrus limonoids contain a furan ring attached to the D-ring, at C-17, as well as oxygen containing functional groups at C-3, C-4, C-7, C-16 and C-17. 7-(furan-3-yl)-10-hydroxy-1,8,12,17,17-pentamethyl-5,15-dioxo-3,6,16-trioxapentacyclo[9.9.0.0²,⁴.0²,⁸.0¹²,¹⁸]icos-13-en-20-yl acetate is found in Toona sinensis. 7-(Furan-3-yl)-10-hydroxy-1,8,12,17,17-pentamethyl-5,15-dioxo-3,6,16-trioxapentacyclo[9.9.0.0²,⁴.0²,⁸.0¹²,¹⁸]Icos-13-en-20-yl acetate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
