Description2'-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-6'-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-5-methyl-2',4'-dihydro-3H-spiro[furan-2,3'-furo[3,2-c]pyran]-3,4'-dione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as catechols. Catechols are compounds containing a 1,2-benzenediol moiety. 2'-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-6'-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-5-methyl-2'h-spiro[furan-2,3'-furo[3,2-c]pyran]-3,4'-dione is found in Hymenochaete xerantica, Phellinus igniarius, Sanghuangporus baumii and Tropicoporus linteus. 2'-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-6'-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-5-methyl-2',4'-dihydro-3H-spiro[furan-2,3'-furo[3,2-c]pyran]-3,4'-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
