DescriptionGitogenin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triterpenoids. These are terpene molecules containing six isoprene units. Thus, gitogenin is considered to be a sterol lipid molecule. Gitogenin is found in Agave cerulata, Allium rotundum, Chlorogalum pomeridianum, Chlorophytum comosum, Digitalis lanata, Digitalis lutea, Digitalis purpurea, Hesperaloe funifera, Kallstroemia maxima, Lycianthes biflora, Medicago polyceratia, Tribulus terrestris, Trigonella caerulea, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Veronica gentianoides, Yucca aloifolia, Yucca glauca, Yucca gloriosa and Yucca schidigera. Gitogenin is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
