DescriptionMaytenonic acid, also known as maytenonate or polpunonic acid, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triterpenoids. These are terpene molecules containing six isoprene units. Polpunonic acid is found in Celastrus vulcanicola, Gymnosporia diversifolia, Monteverdia ilicifolia, Phyllanthus oxyphyllus, Plenckia populnea, Salacia chinensis, Tripterygium doianum, Tripterygium hypoglaucum and Tripterygium wilfordii. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Maytenonic acid.
