Description1-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-7,8-dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)-hexahydro-2H-pyrano[2,3-b][1,4]dioxin-3-yl]propan-1-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as fatty acyl glycosides of mono- and disaccharides. Fatty acyl glycosides of mono- and disaccharides are compounds composed of a mono- or disaccharide moiety linked to one hydroxyl group of a fatty alcohol or of a phosphorylated alcohol (phosphoprenols), a hydroxy fatty acid or to one carboxyl group of a fatty acid (ester linkage) or to an amino alcohol. Pilosidine is found in Curculigo pilosa, Curculigo sinensis, Molineria capitulata and Molineria crassifolia. 1-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-[2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-7,8-dihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)-hexahydro-2H-pyrano[2,3-b][1,4]dioxin-3-yl]propan-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
