DescriptionVitexin 2''-O-beta-D-glucoside, also known as 2''-O-glucosylvitexin or flavosativaside, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid 8-c-glycosides. Flavonoid 8-C-glycosides are compounds containing a carbohydrate moiety which is C-glycosidically linked to 8-position of a 2-phenylchromen-4-one flavonoid backbone. Thus, vitexin 2''-O-beta-D-glucoside is considered to be a flavonoid. Vitexin 2''-O-beta-D-glucoside is a primary metabolite. Primary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically essential metabolites. They are directly involved in an organism’s growth, development or reproduction. Vitexin 2''-glucoside is found in Beta vulgaris, Cannabis sativa, Cycas circinalis, Ficaria verna, Glinus lotoides, Podocarpus nivalis, Ruscus aculeatus, Setaria italica, Silene dioica and Vitex negundo. Vitexin 2''-glucoside was first documented in 2013 (PMID: 23312385). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on vitexin 2''-O-beta-D-glucoside.
