Common Name | Schisandrin C epoxide |
---|
Description | 9,12-Dimethoxy-21,22-dimethyl-5,7,14,16,23-pentaoxahexacyclo[18.2.1.0²,¹⁰.0⁴,⁸.0¹¹,¹⁹.0¹³,¹⁷]Tricosa-2,4(8),9,11,13(17),18-hexaene belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydrolyzable tannins. These are tannins with a structure characterized by either of the following models. In model 1, the structure contains galloyl units (in some cases, shikimic acid units) that are linked to diverse polyol carbohydrate-, catechin-, or triterpenoid units. In model 2, contains at least two galloyl units C-C coupled to each other, and do not contain a glycosidically linked catechin unit. Schisandrin C epoxide is found in Kadsura coccinea. 9,12-Dimethoxy-21,22-dimethyl-5,7,14,16,23-pentaoxahexacyclo[18.2.1.0²,¹⁰.0⁴,⁸.0¹¹,¹⁹.0¹³,¹⁷]Tricosa-2,4(8),9,11,13(17),18-hexaene is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
