Common Name5,7-Dimethoxyflavanone
DescriptionPinocembrin 5,7-dimethyl ether belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, pinocembrin 5,7-dimethyl ether is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5,7-Dimethoxyflavanone is found in Boesenbergia rotunda, Cedrelopsis grevei, Eucalyptus sieberi, Kaempferia parviflora, Leptospermum scoparium and Piper methysticum. Pinocembrin 5,7-dimethyl ether is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
