Description4-Hydroxycephalotaxine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as cephalotaxus alkaloids. These are alkaloids with a structure based on the cephalotaxine skeleton, a tetracyclic 1,3-benzodioxole-containing compound which arises from the skeletal rearrangement of the hydroaromatic component of the Erythrina group. 4-Hydroxycephalotaxine is found in Cephalotaxus fortunei. 4-Hydroxycephalotaxine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
