Description5,7-Dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one, also known as 5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3'-methoxyisoflavone, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 3'-o-methylisoflavones. These are flavones with methoxy groups attached to the C2' atom of the isoflavone backbone. Thus, 5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. A hydroxyisoflavone that is orobol in which the hydroxy group at position 3' has been replaced by a methoxy group. 5,7-Dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-4H-chromen-4-one is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
