| Description | PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)), also known as gpcho(18:3/18:1) Or phosphatidylcholine(18:3/18:1), Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phosphatidylcholines. These are glycerophosphocholines in which the two free -OH are attached to one fatty acid each through an ester linkage. Thus, PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) is considered to be a glycerophosphocholine lipid molecule. A phosphatidylcholine 36:4 In which the acyl groups specified at positions 1 and 2 are (9Z,12Z,15Z)-octadecatrienoyl and (9Z)-octadecenoyl respectively. PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) exists in all eukaryotes, ranging from yeast to humans. Within humans, PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) participates in a number of enzymatic reactions. In particular, S-adenosylhomocysteine and PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) can be biosynthesized from S-adenosylmethionine and pe-nme2(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)); which is catalyzed by the enzyme phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase. In addition, cytidine monophosphate and PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) can be biosynthesized from CDP-choline and DG(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)/0:0) Through the action of the enzyme choline/ethanolaminephosphotransferase. In humans, PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) is involved in phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Outside of the human body, PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as buffalo currants, narrowleaf cattails, wax gourds, horseradish, and soy beans. This could make PC(18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)/18:1(9Z)) a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. |
