Natural Product Identification
Common NameDocosa-4,7,10,13,16-pentaenoyl carnitine
DescriptionDocosa-4,7,10,13,16-pentaenoyl carnitine, also known as adrenyl carnitine, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as acyl carnitines. These are organic compounds containing a fatty acid with the carboxylic acid attached to carnitine through an ester bond. Thus, docosa-4,7,10,13,16-pentaenoyl carnitine is considered to be a fatty ester lipid molecule. Docosa-4,7,10,13,16-pentaenoyl carnitine is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. An O-acylcarnitine in which the acyl group is specified as (4E,7E,10E,13E,16E)-docosapentaenoyl.
