DescriptionN-Acetyl-9-O-acetylneuraminic acid, also known as 9-O-acetylsialic acid or 9-anana, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as neuraminic acids. These are carbohydrate derivatives containing a neuraminic acid moiety. N-Acetyl-9-O-acetylneuraminic acid was first documented in 1976 (PMID: 1017796). N-Acetyl-9-O-acetylneuraminic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa) (PMID: 3623000) (PMID: 3700379).
