These are coumarins that contain one or more hydroxyl groups attached to the C7 position the coumarin skeleton. Demethylkotanin is found in Aspergillus alliaceus and Aspergillus niger. Demethylkotanin was first documented in 1971 (PMID: 5551701). Demethylkotanin is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa) (PMID: 17315249). |
